The Municipality of Surda Abu Qash was honored today to receive H.E. the Minister of Local Government, Dr. Eng. Sami Hijjawi, accompanied by the Assistant Undersecretary for Local Authorities Affairs, Mr. Khaled Ishtayyeh; the Director General of Formations, Mr. Basem Haddad; Eng. Ali Abu Ayyash, Director General of the Directorate of Local Government; the Director General of Public Relations, Mr. Sayel Hanoun; the Director General of Projects, Mr. Moayad Shahada; along with a number of ministry staff. The visit was attended by residents of Surda and Abu Qash, members of the municipal council, and municipal employees.
The visit marked the official handover of the Minister’s decision to upgrade the classification of the Municipality of Surda Abu Qash from Category (C) to Category (B), following the municipality’s fulfillment of the required standards and criteria.
The Mayor, Mr. Mohammad Mousa Ramadan, warmly welcomed the distinguished delegation and expressed his deep appreciation for the Ministry of Local Government’s supportive and active role in empowering local authorities and enhancing their contribution to comprehensive development. He praised this decision as a reflection of the official recognition of the municipality’s dedicated efforts in administration, planning, and project implementation.
For his part, Minister Hijjawi congratulated the municipal council and the residents of Surda and Abu Qash on this achievement, emphasizing that the decision is not merely an administrative step, but a significant milestone and a new starting point for further improving and developing services, as well as expanding development and service projects that benefit both towns.
The Municipality of Surda–Abu Qash affirmed that this progress serves as an additional motivation to intensify efforts and enhance performance in a way that meets citizens’ aspirations, contributes to sustainable development, promotes transparency, and expands services to include all segments of society efficiently and fairly.
