On Sunday, 17 May 2026, Surda Abu Qash Municipality, in partnership with the Birzeit Directorate of Education, inaugurated a Resource Room, a Computer Lab, and a modern Health Unit at Abu Qash Boys Upper Basic School, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance the educational environment and improve services provided to students.

 

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Dr. Thaer Abu Khalil, Director of the Educational and Development Department at the Birzeit Directorate of Education, accompanied by several department heads and educational supervisors. Representing the municipality were Mr. Jad Mohareb Shallout, Mayor of Surda Abu Qash Municipality, Mr. Nael Al-Shamali, Deputy Mayor, alongside members of the Municipal Council, department heads, and municipal staff.

 

The event featured welcoming speeches and national and educational performances. During his remarks, Dr. Abu Khalil praised the school's outstanding educational and developmental achievements, commending the efforts of the school administration and teaching staff. He also congratulated the newly elected Municipal Council and emphasized the importance of continued cooperation between the municipality and the Directorate of Education in support of the education sector.

 

For her part, Dr. Sawsan Al-Arouri, Principal of the school, reviewed the school's most significant achievements and recent developments, highlighting that these accomplishments were made possible through sustained collaboration between the school, the Directorate of Education, and the municipality.

 

In his speech, Mayor Mr. Jad Mohareb Shallout reaffirmed the municipality's commitment to a comprehensive vision focused on building an educated, aware, and intellectually empowered generation capable of serving the nation and shaping its future. He stressed that supporting students and strengthening the education sector will remain a key priority within the municipality's development agenda.

 

The Mayor also expressed his appreciation to the school administration, teaching staff, and everyone who contributed to the successful completion of the project, recognizing their dedication to improving the learning environment and enhancing educational services for students.

 

The ceremony concluded with the official ribbon-cutting and the opening of the Resource Room, Computer Lab, and Health Unit, followed by a tour during which attendees viewed the newly equipped facilities and modern educational resources.
