Surda Abu Qash Municipality and Rawan Association for Child Development Organize Awareness Workshop on the Importance of Early Detection of Developmental Disorders in Children

 

On Tuesday, 9 June 2026, Surda Abu Qash Municipality, in cooperation with the Rawan Association for Child Development, organized an awareness workshop aimed at increasing parents' understanding of the importance of the early detection of developmental disorders in children and its vital role in enabling timely intervention and supporting children's healthy growth and development.

 

The workshop was attended by Dr. Salam Asia, Executive Director of the Rawan Association for Child Development, Eng. Nabil Damra, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Eng. Ziadah Al-Jallad, Board Member. They emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between community institutions to support children and their families and to raise public awareness about the value of early detection and effective intervention.

 

The program featured two specialized presentations delivered by the Association's professional team. Ms. Roa'a Sbeih, Speech, Language, and Communication Specialist, highlighted the importance of identifying developmental disorders during the preschool years and explained the early warning signs that require assessment and follow-up. Ms. Nelly Barbar, Learning Difficulties Teacher, delivered a presentation on recognizing developmental disorders among school-age children and discussed the positive impact of early intervention on children's learning, adaptation, and overall development.

 

The event also included a variety of educational and recreational activities for children, creating an engaging and enjoyable atmosphere that encouraged active family participation and reinforced the workshop's key messages.

 

Surda Abu Qash Municipality expressed its sincere appreciation to Ms. Sarah Al-Rimawi, the municipality's CBR Program Officer, for her outstanding efforts in coordinating and following up on the event. The municipality also thanked Municipal Council Member Ms. Nahida Qaad for her attendance and continued support of community initiatives and awareness programs.

 

The municipality further extended its gratitude to the Rawan Association for Child Development, including its management, professional staff, speakers, and volunteers, for their valuable contribution to the success of the workshop, as well as to the municipal team for their efforts in organizing and supporting the event.

 

Special appreciation was also extended to all the women who attended and actively participated in the workshop. Their engagement and the knowledge they gained will help raise community awareness and encourage the dissemination of important information among families, promoting a stronger culture of early detection and effective intervention for the benefit of children and the wider community.

 

Surda Abu Qash Municipality reaffirmed its commitment to continuing cooperation with partner institutions in implementing awareness, educational, and developmental initiatives that support children and families, strengthen community awareness, and further improve the quality of services provided to the residents of Surda and Abu Qash.
