On Monday, April 6, 2026, Surda Abu Qash Municipality held a community meeting titled (Electoral Reality) in cooperation with the Palestinian Working Woman Society for Development. The meeting was opened by Ms. Naama Assaf with a welcoming speech, emphasizing the vital role of citizens in participating in elections and the importance of understanding the new electoral system to ensure a fair and effective electoral process.
The meeting featured a distinguished group of experts and activists, including the women’s rights activist and member of the Gender Forum, Ms. Rima Nazzal; the Public Relations Officer at the Central Elections Commission, Ms. Maisam Al-Barghouthi; the representative and official spokesperson of Fatah Movement, Mr. Abdel Fattah Dawla; the Ramallah Municipal Council member, Ms. Hanan Qaoud; and youth activist Mohammad Sabra.
Discussions focused on raising public awareness about the importance of participation and correct voting, explaining the new electoral system and its mechanisms, the vital role of women and gender quotas, and the importance of collaboration between the Election Commission, civil society organizations, political parties, and candidates to ensure a smooth electoral process.
The meeting succeeded in increasing participants’ awareness of electoral procedures and mechanisms, addressing their questions, expanding their knowledge of electoral processes, and encouraging them to share this information with others. It also emphasized the importance of networking between various institutions to advance community development and enhance women’s representation and active participation in councils.
