About Surda Abu Qash Municipality
Surda Abu Qash Municipality was officially established on August 7, 2014, pursuant to a decision issued by the Palestinian Council of Ministers, in coordination with the Ministry of Local Government. The decision stipulated the merger of the villages of Surda and Abu Qash into a single administrative entity, following many years during which they functioned as separate rural communities, despite having a joint planning and construction committee since 2007.
This merger was driven by the rapid urban and developmental transformations in the area. Surda and Abu Qash are considered the natural urban extension and primary outlet for the cities of Ramallah and Al-Bireh, owing to their strategic location and close connection to key economic and service centers. This has significantly enhanced the area’s importance at the national level and attracted growing interest from investors, as well as public and private institutions, particularly amid increasing population growth and urban expansion in nearby city centers.
